Systems Engineer

The Systems Engineer will provide technical support for all of the Company’s production and corporate software and hardware systems.

We are looking for a proactive, service-minded approach and the ability to respond quickly and efficiently within a fast-paced environment. As well as having a wide technical knowledge and experience, the position of Engineer requires a hands-on, think-outside-of-the-box approach when problem solving.

The position is based in London, but some travel to the offices in Amsterdam and Barcelona may be required.

Essential experience:

  • Installation, configuration, administration, monitoring, maintenance and troubleshooting of:
    • Networking, including switches & firewalls such as Aruba & Fortinet, VLANs and routing, AD, DNS, DHCP, GPO
    • Systems, including: VM Servers, GIT, webservices, Windows / Linux / MacOS
    • Production software, including: Flame, Houdini, Nuke, Maya, Baselight, Redshift, Arnold, Adobe Creative Suite
    • Storage systems, working with: GPFS, XFS,
    • Render systems, including: Deadline, GPU & CPU render farm
    • Corporate software and hardware systems, including: email, document creation, printers

Desired experience:

  • Remote workflows including PC over IP
  • NIM shot tracking and production software
  • Experience with databases: Mongo, PostgreSQL, MySQL
  • Understanding of colour workflow & monitor calibration
  • Cloud-based computing solutions including storage, rendering
  • Infrastructure automation including Puppet / Ansible

Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Implementing processes and resources to maintain and enhance production workflows
  • Keeping documentation on infrastructure, assets, applications and licenses updated
  • Providing front line technical support to all Glassworks’ staff, including out-of-hours work as required
  • Collaborating with Technical staff on other sites (Amsterdam / Barcelona)
  • Project-managing systems development projects as required
  • Maintaining good working relationships with Glassworks’ suppliers

3D Generalist

Glassworks London are currently seeking an experienced 3D Generalist to join the team.

This is an opportunity for someone who has and enjoys using a broad range of 3D skills and relishes the sense of ownership that comes with variety. The scope of work ranges from commercials to longform and specialised in-house R&D projects. You may additionally have a specialised discipline that you lean toward, along with prior experience working in small teams, larger teams, and sometimes on your own.

Essential attributes:

  • Creative eye and artistic skillset
  • Technical ability across a wide range of 3D disciplines
  • 3+ yrs industry experience working with photo-real VFX
  • A high standard of quality control
  • Enthusiasm and an enquisitive mind
  • Photorealistic rendering ability

  • Creativity in problem solving

Software:

  • Maya or Houdini (or both)
  • Nuke (precomp and above)

Glassworks London are currently seeking a talented 2D artist to join the team.

This is an opportunity for an experienced creative who enjoys lead artist responsibility, is happy to work on a variety of different projects and has high standards of finishing. The scope of work ranges from commercials to longform and specialised in-house R&D projects, from traditional live-action online to full-CG production and everything in between.

Essential attributes:

  • Creative eye and artistic sensibility
  • Technical ability across a wide range of 2D disciplines
  • 8+ yrs industry experience in high-end digital compositing
  • 4+ years experience as a lead artist / VFX supervisor
  • Extensive shoot supervision experience
  • A high standard of quality control
  • Enthusiasm and an enquisitive mind
  • Excellent time management and ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Calm under pressure
  • Creativity in problem solving
  • Thorough understanding of 3D pipeline

Software:

  • Flame or Nuke (or both)
  • Adobe suite

  • Knowledge of 3D tools (e.g. Maya / Houdini)
